Giants

They've just opened a new bike shop in Radlett - GIANT. We have been wondering what to do about the bikes for the last few weeks as we have no real way of transporting them up and down the motorway. We eventually decided it would be cheaper to buy a second set of bikes for us to use in Radlett rather than trying to transport them between staffs and herts. So today we bought a new pair from GIANT. SJ's is a Talon and mine is a Revel. We'll take them out properly tomorrow to see how they go...

Vienna

Currently in the BA lounge waiting for a flight to Vienna. We're going for the weekend, back Monday. Should be a good one - I've been to Vienna airport loads of times bit never to the city itself.

Ultimate laziness

A few weeks ago I posted Chief and his lie-down drinking. Now he's taking to sitting down eating!

New tat

Yesterday I went back to my local, friendly tattoo shop to get my latest addition. I wanted something to cover up a cartoon devil I'd had done when I was 18. This was my first tattoo and whilst I quite like it, it doesn't really "suit" me now if you know what I mean.

Its going to be about 6 hours work I reckon, with two down yesterday...

Quiet week

This week has been a little calmer after all the frantic goings-on over the last couple. We've booked our flights for the wedding, flying with Singapore Airlines to Auckland via Changi.

We've also had a look at what we actually want to do whilst we're out there. So far, the agenda looks as follows:

Arrive - spend a couple of nights in an Auckland hotel
Travel to wedding venue - spend two nights there
Back to Auckland for another couple of nights and perhaps some time in Whangaparoa
Fly to South Island
Travel round Nelson, Kaikoura, Wanaka, Milford Sound, Queenstown before flying back to Auckland for the last couple of days before heading back to UK.

We think....!

Camden town ain't burning down

Had a wander round London today. Started off in harrods as we had to pick something up and then headed down Oxford street and regents street as SJ wanted to get her watch serviced. We carried on to Picadilly where we had something to eat at Yo Sushi in Haymarket. We normally go to the one in Selfridges but fancied a change. Was fantastic! on the way back we stopped off in Camden Town. It was somewhere we've been meaning to go for a while just never got round to it. Well, what a place! Was absolutely packed and incredibly diverse. We only spent an hour or so there but we decided we'd make a day of it soon...quite incredible...

The calm before the storm...

After the NZ's went back home, the house was pretty quiet for a while. Its funny because whike the kids are here, its bedlam, but when they leave, you want a little bit (not all) of that bedlam back...preferably in the shape of a Max, Otis or Dharma...

The weekend was spent doing not a lot in Radlett. We went on a long walk, ending up in the pub for refreshments and had a couple of meals but in reality we didn't do a great deal.

Following week was the first real week back at work and that just dragged, although I did manage to only go in for two of the five days!

Last weekend we went up to Staffs. We went over to Jim & Lisa's on Friday night as I had to ask him if he'd be my Best Man...had I not mentioned SJ and I are getting married? How remiss of me...we are and its going to be in New Zealand! Date is likely to be Feb 2011 but yet to be confirmed. Venue is likely to be castaways - www.castaways.co.nz
On Saturday we took the bikes out for a blast around the Chase - we did the long blue route taking in about 16 miles and around 2 hours...was good fun. We then headed over to Underground Tattoo to discuss further body modifications, this time in the shape of a Koi design on my shoulder. Booked in for the 13th...should be fun...!

Saturday night we went to the Kings Repose Indian restaurant - food was good, service was awful. I asked for a wine list to be replied to with "What wine do you want"? to which I replied "I don't know, I haven't seen the list...". This was followed up with, "Well, we have red, white, rose, etc, etc" Not exactly endearing. This was then topped off as we were told to "CLEAR SOME SPACE" when the table warmers arrived...strange, I always thought this was the responsibility of the waiting staff?

40 / 70

On Sunday we went to Calderfields Golf Club to celebrate SJ's father and sister's birthday's - being 70 and 40 respectively. Great meal and pretty reasonable albeit the service was pretty slow.

Had a pretty lazy day otherwise, before heading back down to Radlett (with the entire entourage) on Monday.

The gang were flying back to NZ on Tuesday morning so for the last night we headed into Prezzo for a meal. Its been a while since SJ and I went to Prezzo...the last time was OK but nothing special. This time I had the Tre Gusti pizza and it was nice, but not as nice as Va Pensiero in my opinion.

Tuesday morning, SJ tand father took them all back to LHR for the start of their long trip back to NZ...we shall miss them...the house is very quiet now...
