Back in Blighty

We managed to make it back to the UK. Out flight was on time with no real delays save for ten minutes or so. Pretty uneventful flight really...we landed at 7 this morning and headed up to Staffs to pick up the dogs. They were pleased to see us!

Tonight I think will be a quiet one...feeling pretty tired at the moment!

Not looking forward to work on Monday...

Return home

We're now in the lounge in JFK airport waiting for the flight back. It's been a great few days - obviously getting engaged was simply amazing and so, so right but the whole trip has been really cool.

Last night we ate at Amma, an Indian restaurant on 51st street and it was beautiful. Today we've been round Central Park - New York has had the most snow in years overnight and the park was fantastic. We then headed down 5th Avenue and Madison before heading over here. The perfect end to the perfect trip!

An Engagement with Macy's

For the third day in a row we're in Macy's. It's belting down with snow here so we decided the best place to be was indoors!

Last night we went to Scalini Fedeli - a really nice Italian in Tribeca. It was recommended from Tripadvisor and is the number 8th ranked restaurant in NYC. It was good but a little too pretentious perhaps.

Anyway the real reason for going there was to ask SJ to marry me! I had the ring prepped and it was burning a hole in my pocket…I had to ask her! She (obviously) said yes and so now we're officially engaged! How cool is that! I think we're going to aim for a wedding in a year or so's time...watch this space!

Day in NYC

What a day! We set off from Madison Avenue to the Empore State building but it was too cloudy to go up do had brekkie in the cafe. We then caught a cab to Wall Street and walked round there taking in the NYSE and Federal Reserve. We then headed down towards Brooklyn bridge and on to Battery park taking in the Statue of Liberty on the way. Next up to the World Trade Centre site and a spot of lunch in the World Financial Centre. Cab from there to the Rockefeller Centre but didn't go up as it was too cloudy, so we headed down 5th Avenue to do some shopping and ended back up at Empire State. This time it wad clear enough to go up despite the ticket lady telling is there was zero visibility. We then headed back down and out to Macys for some retail therapy. Out of there and up to Times Square and then back to the Roosevelt...phew, what a day. Just got time for a quick vino and then we're off out to Scalini Felini for dinner...

Saks fifth avenue

We're currently in Saks Fifth Avenue. We've been down to the bottom tip of Manhattan and walked round the financial district and Battery Park. We came back up to Misdown to see if we could go up to The Top of the Rock observation deck at Rockefeller Centre. Unfortunately with the western not being so great the visibility was "zero" so we didn't end up going to the top. We're going to try again tomorrow...

Roosevelt hotel

We arrived in NYC earlier today. We're staying at the Roosevelt hotel - Madison and 45th. The weather is miserable but we still managed a wander round earlier. We went to the Chrysler building and empire state but both were obscured in cloud. We've just been to eat at keens steakhouse...what an amazing meal!
